Sherlock Holmes is action, adventure, detective film directed by Guy Ritchie. This movie became a blockbuster in Dicember 2009 – in its first weekend the film earned $62,4 million and during two months (Dicember 2009 and January 2010) Sherlock Holmes grossed $295,2 million.

Sherlock Holmes won Golden Globe in nomination the Best Actor (Robert Downey, Jr.). And this movie was announced in nomination Best Score of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, but lost  to Up in the Air.

Director Guy Ritchie created this film trying to revive the famous personages of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.  In this film they fight with Lord Blackwood, who embodies absolute evil.  Lord Blackwood is generalized character, which based on Aleister Crowley. His name was invented thanks to Sir Conan Doyle’s occult followers – fantasy novelist Lord Dunsany and horror novelist Algernon Blackwood.

Film development began in October 2008. Sherlock Holmes is saturated with stunts and computer graphics. During making film the crew shot many architecture monuments such as Freemasons’ Hall, St. Paul’s Cathedral, St. Bartholomew-the-Great church in London.

Film was released on December, 25 2009 in USA and on December, 26 2009 in the UK.
