Mel Gibson is looking forward to shoot a Viking epic

Mel GibsonAfter Mel Gibson performed Oscar-winning role in film about medieval Scotland, he is looking forward to another historical epic about Vikings.

Mel Gibson, who returns to work after playing role in the action-thriller “Edge of Darkness,” said he dreamed to make  a picture about the Norse warriors, when he was a child.

“The very first idea that I ever had about making a haze, my first thought ever about being a filmmaker was when I was 16-time-old, and I sought to make a Viking movie,” Gibson said to reporters.

Walter Kirn, the writer of ‘Up in the Air’ is fliyng high with movie

Walter KirnMany authors dream their book becomes a film blockbuster.  But writer Walter Kirn is pleasing the pessimistic aspect of fellow Minnesota script writer Garrison Keillor as he watches the picture side of his book, “Up in the Air,” climb to serious and box task success.

“I’m a Minnesotan,” Kirn tells to reporters. “We fancy too big, we’re going to be humbled.”

Golden GlobeThe 67th yearly Golden Globe nominations for best performance by an actor in a supporting function in a movement picture have been announced in Beverly Hills, Calif. by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The organize’s five nominees announced Tuesday morning included: Penelope Cruz (”Nine”), Vera Farmiga (”Up in the Air”), Anna Kendrick (”Up in the Air”), Mo’Nique (”Precious”) and Julianne Moore (”A Single Man“).

‘Avatar,’ ‘2012′ among films seeking property Oscar

AvatarThe Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 15 films vying for best visual effects consideration at the Oscars.

Blockbusters such as “Avatar,” “2012″ and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” will compete with minor films such as “Where the Wild Things Are,” “District 9″ and “Coraline.”

The other semifinalists are: “Disney’s A Christmas Carol,” “G-Force,” “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “Star Trek,” “Terminator Salvation” and “Watchmen.”
