Clooney offered Weintraub with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award, named after the belated soloist-actor.

Murphy and Menken Set for Disney’s “Rapunzel” Movie

Donna MurphyTwo-time Tony Award-engaging actor Donna Murphy has tied the cast of the new Disney excited musical “Rapunzel.”

Murphy (Passion, The King and I) will voice the character of Mother Gothel, the witch who holds Rapunzel intent in a doorless tower. Mandy Moore has signed to voice the long-tressed deed task with Zachary Levi as her prince.

Academy Awarded-engaging composer Alan Menken will score the Grimm brothers fairytale for Disney. Byron Howard and Nathan Greno will target. “Rapunzel” will be a 3D mark free during the 2010 festival period.

Although the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has nothing against promotion, it likes to dole out its reports about the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, set for March 7, on its own timetable.

Shankman, who is producing the Oscar show with Bill Mechanic, doesn’t assign that coolness, though. He enjoys chatting to the fans exactly via his Twitter account, which has more than 48,000 followers, as the mood strikes him.

‘Blind Side’ eclipses ‘New Moon’ with $20M weekend

New movie “Oceans” gives fish-eye deem of sea life

OceansNew French movie “Oceans” not only allows audience to swim among the fish, but opens a skylight on underwater lives packed with emotion and loaded with jeopardy.

It is over fifty time since celebrated French diver and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau shot the documentary “The Silent World” and strict advances have made it easier to capture life from the perspective of a fish, the haze’s directors say.

“We invented all the procedure to be fish with the fish, to witness what we have done to our environment and, when there are big catches or pollution, to see it as the fish see it,” one of directors, Jacques Perrin, told Reuters.

Al Pacino set to play Shylock in NY’s Central Park

Al PacinoAl Pacino meets William Shakespeare next summer in New York City’s Central Park.

The 69-year-old Pacino will portray Shylock in “The Merchant of Venice,” one of two offerings by the Public Theater’s 2010 Shakespeare in the Park sequence, operation June 9-Aug. 1.

Artist principal Oskar Eustis (YOO’-stihs) says the sequence will also enter “The Winter’s Tale,” which will rotate in performance with “Merchant.” Among the actors who will emerge in the theater: Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jesse L. Martin, Lily Rabe, Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Max Wright. Pacino will only appear in “Merchant.”

Swiss places Polanski under home arrest Friday

Roman PolanskiBERN, Switzerland – After more than two months in a Swiss jail, Roman Polanski will be sited under house arrest at his Alpine lodge on Friday, authorities said.

The 76-year-old executive must defer in the house and abrasion an electronic bangle as officials decide whether to return him to the U.S. for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old teenager, the authorities said.

Polanski will be transferred on Friday to Gstaad,” said Folco Galli, the Swiss Justice Ministry spokesman. He said the filmmaker could be in his home by early daylight.
